Shadia is a an artist dancer- performer and designer of costumes. She is involved in the bellydance community for more then 40 years and had influence a large member of community and dancers in Boston and New-England area.
The main reflexion brought by Shadia for the first Thé à l’orientale was:
for dancer: WHEN YOU PERFORM A BELLY DANCE , DO YOU CONVEY AND/OR THINK OF THE CULTURE FROM WHICH THIS DANCE FORM CAME FROM IN YOUR PRESENTATION? IF YES OR NO..PLEASE EXPLAIN.
for no dancer: DO YOU HAVE A CULTURAL EXPECTATION OF THE BELLY DANCE PERFORMANCE? IF YES OR NO, PLEASE EXPLAIN.
After telling her journey as a dancer-teacher and costume designer, we went true some deeper questions that could help to the reflexion.
The Shadia advices for the futur is "Dance as long as you can and with elegance and dignity for yourself and for the culture! »
